I remember trying to get out of DC on that day as I watched black smoke billowing out of a Pentagon which I could not see but which I knew to be under siege. I arrived home to a new mom (my wife) crying as she watched events unfold on the tv news. This was our generation's JFK assassination. We will all remember where we were and what we were doing. And I think the events that unfurled on that dark morning in September 2001 have had a more profound impact on this county that the events of November 1963.
