The social media numbers are in from last week’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida and they are impressive!
Here are some of my favorite photos from the week:
Tuesday, August 28, 2012
After Ann Romney’s speech, Governor Mitt Romney joined her briefly on the convention stage and Twitter lit up! Below is a visual (courtesy of @joshgillespie and @HelenaRamirez) that captured hashtag mentions of #GOP2012 and #RNC. We learned the next day that these were coming in at a rate of 6,600 tweets per minute. After the second day, there were over 2 million convention related tweets — 6x more than both of the 2008 RNC and DNC conventions combined.

In a live Google Hangout from Tampa, Florida, Patrick Kent, Director of Digital of the 2012 Republican National Convention hosted an all-star digital panel including Zac Moffatt, Romney for President, Gerrit Lansing, NRCC Digital Director, Lori Weberg, US Senate, Cyrus Krohn and Patrick Ruffini who are both former RNC eCampaign Directors. They discussed the first ever “Convention without Walls” and the use of innovative digital tools by the Mitt Romney campaign this election cycle.
During another Google Hangout with Alex Schriver, chairman of the College Republicans, we were joined by students from the University of Maryland, University of Minnesota, University of St. Thomas and Miami University (Ohio) to discuss jobs, the economy, rising tuition costs and other issues facing them and their families this year.
Thought I would end on a something a little lighthearted courtesy of @lindseymask in honor of Clint Eastwood’s chair …
